Adopt at the RSCL

There are many ways you can support the Roaring Spring Community Library. Adoption is a unique way to contribute to the library and make an impact on the community.

Adopt an Author

The Adopt an Author program allows you to not only be first in line to read your favorite author’s newest release, but it also helps expand and diversify the library’s collection. Here is how it works:

• Let us know whom you want to “adopt.”

• Let us know the format – regular print, large print, or audio book.

• We order the new titles as they are published.

• When the title arrives, RSCL staff will notify you. In return for being the first in line to read it, you reimburse the library at a discounted cost. You also get a special bookplate in the front of the book with your name.

Adopt a Book (Memorial or Honor Book Program)

Are you looking for a unique gift for someone? One that will be enjoyed for many years, by many people? The Adopt-a-Book program allows you to do just that. You can honor a special teacher, birth of a child, birthday, anniversary, retirement or someone that has made a difference in your life. The Adopt-a-Book program also offers a very special way to memorialize a loved one who has passed.

With your donation, the library will purchase a book and add a special bookplate indicating both the donor and honoree.

Adopt a Magazine or Newspaper

Adopting a magazine or newspaper is another great way to help the diversity of the library’s collection. The library’s membership continues to grow each year and the need to maintain the periodical collection outpaces the library’s budget. To meet this challenge, you are invited to “adopt” a magazine or newspaper by donating the annual cost of the subscription or by designating RSCL as the recipient of a gift subscription.

Adopt Supplies or Equipment

As the number of library members increases, so does the need for programming, office and custodial supplies. YOU can make an impact by adopting the following new items:

Programming supplies – crayons, markers, finger & poster paints, construction paper, glue dots, Lego’s, paint brushes or other arts and crafts supplies; Office supplies – copier paper, packing tape, mailing envelopes, labels, pens, pencils, and book processing supplies; Custodial supplies – paper towels, bathroom tissue, hand soap, hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, garbage bags, or cleaning products

Adopt a Utility or Service

As the cost of utilities and services continue to increase, you can make a HUGE impact on the library and the services we offer. You can choose to adopt a utility bill for a month, several months or even the entire year. Gather a group of family, friends or co-workers to help! Adoptions are available for phone, internet access, electric, heat and grounds upkeep. Can’t adopt the entire bill? You can also designate a financial contribution toward the cost of a utility or service.
