Claysburg Preparing for Community Days, August 10-11

This year's Pageant is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, as part of Claysburg's 44th annual Community Days, scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 10-11.

Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 10-11, will mark the 44th Claysburg Community Days.

Saturday's events kick off at 10:30 a.m. and will continue to 10 p.m. Sunday's events begin at 9 a.m. and continue to 6 p.m. There will be food, games, crafts and entertainment on both days.

Saturday's line-up of special entertainment will be the following: 11:30 a.m. – Little Miss Claysburg Pageant; 1 to 5 p.m. – Petting Zoo; 2:30 to 5 p.m. – From Down the Road; 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. – Gayle's Shining Stars; 7 to 10 p.m. – Felix and the Hurricanes.

On Sunday, Aug. 11, events begin with a 5K Dog Days of Summer race and walk sponsored by the Claysburg Education Foundation in conjunction with the Claysburg-Kimmel leadership group from 9 until 10 a.m. Students 18 and under will run for free. A breakfast will be available starting at 9 until 10:45 a.m. At 10:45 a.m. until noon there will be a community worship service. Pastor Jean Caudill of Christ Lutheran Church in Claysburg will deliver the sermon. The Claysburg Church of God Drama Team will present its special message of music. The Claysburg Community Chorus will perform under the direction of Danny Crist. The proceeds of the offering will benefit the on-going needs of the Claysburg community.

The remainder of Sunday's schedule is as follows: noon to 1 p.m. – 5 DC; 1 to 5 p.m. – Petting Zoo; 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. – Claysburg American Legion Band; 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. – Moore Brothers Band.

A softball tournament will be held both days at the Little League Field.

As with other prior Community Days there will be a large selection of foods on both days as well as games, crafts and other events.
