New Principal Elected

At a meeting of the local school board on Wednesday evening of last week, Prof. M. Elton Dean, of Altoona, was elected as principal of the Martinsburg High school for the coming term. Prof. Dean comes to us very highly recommended. He graduated from Altoona High school in the class of 1909, carries the degree of A. M. from Bucknell University, and holds a Pennsylvania College certificate. During the year 1913-14 he had charge of the English Academy, Denison University. For two years he was principal of a fourteen-roomed graded school in Bluefield, West Virginia.

The Mt. Pleasant Sunday school will hold their annual picnic in Loose’s gove at Henrietta on Saturday, August 23. All schools in this vicinity are invited to attend and make this a community affair. Addresses will be delivered by prominent speakers and plenty of good music will be furnished under the leadership of Prof. Elias Glass. The chairman of the amusement committee, J. B. Stonerook, promises plenty of amusements for both old and young. Everybody come out.
