Cove Shoe Awarded Contract

The Defense Department has awarded a $10 million contract to the Cove Shoe Co. of Martinsburg. The contract calls for Cove Shoe Co. to deliver up to 110,820 pairs of intermediate cold-wet boots for military use. The contract was awarded under the Defense Personnel Support Center’s advanced business practice demonstration program. Cove Shoe has been a supplier of the boots in the past. Delivery is scheduled to be completed 545 days from the date of the award, Aug. 25.

The Herald features Annie Davis, a resident of the Morrisons Cove Home who will celebrate her 100th birthday Saturday, Sept. 3, 1994. She is a spry centenarian who enjoys participating in the many activities of the home as well as special events at Koontz Church of the Brethren near Loysburg.

Excavation is underway along Route 36 south of Roaring Spring for the Food Lion shopping center that is to be built by Greencastle Development of Annapolis, Md. Besides the Food Lion supermarket, the shopping mall will provide space for several other shops.
