Mason Baker Leading Central Dragon Golfers

The Central Dragon golf team got off to a great start with a solid victory over homestanding Everett Aug. 19. The Dragons won by a 358-371 score.

Mason Baker was the medalist of the day as he finished with a score of 79. Jonah Snowberger followed with a 90, while Jerry Brumbaugh (94) and Tyler Helsel (95) rounded out the team’s scores.

“Mason was steady as always,” Central coach Robbie Keith said. “The younger players really stepped up their games and gave us a nice first win. The weather was extremely hot but typical August weather.”

Sinking Valley Invite

The Central Dragon golf team participated in the 11-team Sinking Valley Invitational on Monday, Aug. 26, and finished 10th overall.

Mountain League rival Huntingdon was the eventual winner with a team score of 311. Other league teams involved were Tyrone, which finished fourth (343), and Bellefonte ninth (370). The Dragons had a cumulative 378 score.

Mason Baker shot a solid score of 83 to finish in10th individually. The top area score was a 78 shot by Hollidaysburg’s Eric Davis. Other Dragon finishers were Jerry Brumbaugh (92), Jonah Snowberger (101) and Tyler Helsel (102).

“It was great competition against some large schools today,” Central coach Robbie Keith said. “Mason shot well again and his score compared favorably with most of the top players. Jerry also had a solid outing.”
