Odd-Even Parking

Herald of Sept. 8, 1994

Even though it is September, Martinsburg Borough Council had winter on its mind at its council meeting Tuesday. Robert Carper, street commissioner, urged council to begin moving now to make the removal of snow from borough streets this winter easier than it has been in past years. Police Chief Richard A. Brantner suggested that the council consider the adoption of an “odd-even” parking ordinance. Such a move would require citizens to park on the side of the street with even-numbered houses on even days of the month and on the odd side of the street on odd days. Carper said that those who cannot join in the odd-even plan must find off-street parking. Council plans to discuss the ordinance at its October meeting and hopes to have it in place by November or December.

Annie Davis, a resident of the Morrisons Cove Home in Martinsburg, celebrated her 100th birthday Sept. 3, 1994, amid family, friends, birthday cake and wonderful memories.

Claysburg-Kimmel and Central both opened the high school football season with victories.
