Polio Leads To Quarantine

A new infantile paralysis scare has developed in the Cove during the past week with the discovery that Dean Smith, 12-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Smith of the Dry Gap section, north of Roaring Spring has a well-developed attack of the disease.

The lad on Saturday was taken to the Municipal hospital in Johnstown.

The boy’s sister, Miss Leonore Smith, aged 17, a worker at the Sylvania plant in Altoona, is ill, and is under quarantine as a suspect, but County Health Officer William Carper of Roaring Spring told the Herald that the attending physician had not d...
