Park Pavilion Project

Herald of Sept. 17, 2009

A new pavilion is in the final phase of a project that started three years ago.

The pavilion was built at Riverside Park in Williamsburg at the end of July by B & W Construction. The borough received approximately $30,000 in a grant from the United Way of Blair County to be used at the park for recreational purposes.

In addition to the pavilion, the grant money was used to purchase picnic tables, a new roof for the old pavilion and new toilets and sinks for the restroom. Also, the kitchen pavilion was updated with an industrial sink, hot water heater, refrigerator, freezer and new cupboards.

All of the painting jobs were done by Kelly Bassler and her youth from the Juvenile Probation Office.

The group has been instrumental in helping with the playground project from the beginning. They continue to provide upkeep and to help with additional changes.

Williamsburg Farm Show announced the winning results of the horseshoe pitching contest held August 19 at the farm show grounds.
