Dorothy Fox Wilson, 97, of Duncansville, died Saturday morning, Sept. 14, 2019, at her residence, following an extended illness.

A memorial service was held Wednesday, Sept. 18, at the Todd T. Thompson Funeral Home Inc.,, Roaring Spring. Pastor William Zimmerman officiated.

Inurnment was made in Alto-Reste Park, Altoona.

Dorothy was born on Feb. 17, 1922, in Asheville, N.C., the daughter of the late Eston and FlaVilla (Hendley) Fox and was raised in Arlington, Va.

She married Woody Wilson on Aug. 1, 1941. He preceded her in death on Sept. 16, 1983.

She is survived by two daughters: Virginia Smith and husband Ron of Matthews, N.C., and Dorothy FlaVilla Wilson, with whom she resided; four granddaughters: Amy Castellani, Elizabeth Walker (George), Constance Taylor (Jeff) and Wendy Hinkal (Brett); two grandsons: Matthew Smith (Randy) and Robert Hecker (Randi); an adopted granddaughter, Lindsay Morris (Lance) and their children; five great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Kathleen Crilly, Deb Richard, and Veryle Shaffer.

Dorothy was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Hecker; a son, Kenneth Wilson; and 4 siblings: Eloise Comstock, Edith Legg, FlaVilla Kiernan and Eston Fox.

She was a 1940 graduate of Washington Lee High School in Arlington, Va.

Dorothy was a member of St. John’s Reformed Church, Hollidaysburg.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, loved animals, enjoyed reading, and was a talented seamstress before her vision failed.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dorothy's memory may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Grane Hospice, 115 Union Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602.
