Mrs. Peggy R. Shaffer, business manager and board secretary of the Spring Cove School District, was awarded the Pennsylvania School Study Council Excellence in Administration plaque and engraved desk bell for her “many years of dedicated and successful service” to the school district.

The Northern Bedford School Board approved a direct deposit payroll program, providing for electronic deposit of all pay for district employees and substitutes beginning in January.

The Rev. Ira Petre and his wife Mary were recognized for their many years of service to others during the 15th annual Good Samaritan Banquet of the Morrisons Cove Home.

Under a consent order and agreement between the Department of Environmental Resources and the Martinsburg Municipal Authority, the authority had until Nov. 24 to complete construction at the new sewage treatment plant.

Williamsburg native Christian Appleman was appointed as club professional at Penn State University’s Tennis Center.
