Freedom Township Woman Arrested for Assault, Resisting Arrest

A Freedom Township woman is facing charges after police said she punched a man in the face and then struggled with an officer attempting to take her into custody.

According to the criminal complaint, Freedom Township police were called to a home on Chas Lou Court, on Sept. 14 for the report of a domestic incident.

Police said Lacey M. Custer, 35, and a male had gotten into a verbal argument which led to Custer scatching the left side of the victim’s neck, causing abrasions.

The victim told police that Custer then punched him in the face with a closed fist.

While attempting to investigate the incident, police said Custer “boldly exited the residence” and pushed an officer.

After police were able to handcuff Custer behind her back and place her in the police car, Custer asked the officer for fresh air in the hot vehicle.

With Custer still in handcuffs, the officer opened the back door of the car to allow fresh air in.

Once the door was opened, Custer became “tumultuous,” flailing about and attempted to remove her handcuffs.

Police had to further restrain Custer before transporting her to the police station.

Custer faces misdemeanor charges of simple assault, harassment and resisting arrest.

She was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Andrew Blattenberger, Martinsburg, and released on $10,000 unsecured bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for today, Sept. 26, in front of Blattenberger.
