M-burg Community Fund Sets Goal for '19 Campaign

A goal of $43,000 has been set for this year’s Martinsburg Area Community Fund Drive.

This year’s goal is the same as 2018. The 2019 fund drive will support 15 charitable agencies that do work in the Martinsburg area.

The Martinsburg Community Guidance Council held its annual budget meeting Aug. 20. Officers for the 2018 campaign were elected, and funding requests from the participating agencies were reviewed.

The 15 agencies are Morrisons Cove Memorial Park, Martinsburg Supervised Recreation, Martinsburg Community Library, Spring Cove Youth Baseball League, Southern Alleghenies American Red Cross, Girl Scouts of Western Pa., Laurel Highlands Boy Scout Troop 358, Martinsburg Salvation Army, Home Nursing Agency (Healing Patch), Family Services Inc., Hershberger Memorial Pool Learn to Swim, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Blair County, Garver Memorial YMCA, Martinsburg Area Food Pantry and Scarlet Dragon Backpack Program.

The following officers were elected: Randy K. Stoltz, chairman; the Rev. Gerald McCuller Jr., vice chairman; Brian D. Hess, secretary; John Knepp, treasurer; and Linda K. Smith, assistant treasurer.

The campaign committee is as follows: Smith, residential; Audrey Hite and Linda Showalter, business; John Bolger and Hess, clubs and organizations; and Earl Springer, public relations.

Nathan Ormsby of Martinsburg was named honorary representative for the upcoming fund drive.

The campaign will begin in late September with a mailing to all residents and businesses in the Martinsburg area, requesting contributions and pledges.
