Northern Bedford

The Northern Bedford cross-country teams scored victories over host Central, Williamsburg and Saint Joseph’s Academy Sept. 19.

The Black Panthers’ Ian Sherlock, Ian Zimmerman and Connor Laird each crossed the finish line in a time of 18 minutes, 31 seconds.

On the girls’ side, Emille Sherlock led NB with a fourth-place finish in 23:05.

Northern Bedford competed at the 24th annual Altoona Cross-Country Invitational Sept. 21.

In the boys’ race, the Black Panthers finished second overall with 37 team points, two behind overall winner Altoona.

Ian Zimmerman placed third overall with a time of 17:22.60. Ian Sherlock followed in fourth place with a time of 17:37.48.

Emilee Sherlock placed 28th in the girls’ race with a time of 22:37.28.

Central

On Sept. 17, the Central cross-country teams hosted Tyrone and Clearfield. The boys fell to Clearfield, 18-37, and to Tyrone, 16-42, while the girls lost to both teams, 15-50.

Luke Knisely set the new Central course record with a time of 20 minutes, 12 seconds. Walter Eckenrode followed in 20:42 and Lane Kocher 21:53. Michael James was the fourth Dragon to cross the tape in 22:04.

On the girls’ side, Maria Jeffries finished in 26:11, followed by Lauren Crilly in 27:42. Kiersten Biddle had a time of 30:03 and Joclynn Ramsey 40:48.

On Sept. 19, Northern Bedford, Williamsburg and Saint Joseph’s Academy visited Martinsburg. Central defeated Williamsburg but fell to NBC and St. Joe’s.`

“It was a busy week against some solid competition. We are continuing working to improve our times. Some of our junior high runners continue to impress us,” Central coach Lacey Ceschini said.

Williamsburg

The Williamsburg cross-country teams ran against host Bellwood-Antis and Moshannon Valley Sept. 17.

In the boys’ meet, the Blue Pirates’ Garrett Nicewonger placed sixth overall with a time of 22 minutes, 17 seconds. He was the lone Pirate in the top 10.

On the girls’ side, Kelsie Butler and Aliyah Ross placed third and fourth with times of 24:46 and 26:00, respectively.
