Man Shot; Mistook for Turkey

Herald of Sept. 27, 1894

William Corle of Pavia accidentally shot Charles Wysong of Blue Knob when he mistook the victim for a turkey. Dr. J.W. Wengert probed for the ball, which had lodged between Whysong’s ear after penetrating above the right eye, but he was unable to extract it.

The Rev. Levi Risher died at his home in Alleghany County at the age of 58. He had been pastor of the Presbyterian Church in Martinsburg from 1882 to 1887 while the new building was being erected.

Jonah Clapper of Yellow Creek and Mrs. D.H. Sell of Woodbury were married by the Rev. Brice Sell of Leamersville.
