Herald Publisher Allan J. Bassler is announcing a Herald "Garage Sale" to be held from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Herald building in Martinsburg.

The items for sale will be displayed in the Herald's basement, which is accessible from the alley at the rear of the Herald building. The Herald is located at 113 N. Market St., Martinsburg.

Those attending may park in the Herald lot at the north side of the building until it is full. Once the lot is full, drivers are asked to park on Julian Street.

Publisher Bassler said that there is a wide variety of items up for sale, including many rescued from the Herald's basement.

Items include two old wooden bed frames, each complete with headboard, footboard and rails.

Other items include old tools, old wooden cabinets, old schoolhouse chairs, Mac computer electronics, internet routers, old household items including a set of dishes, old dresser mirrors, home stereo equipment, office equipment, craft and office items, old lamps and much more.

Also for sale are three old strapping/binding machines which use twine and two older electric stoves.

Not all devices are in working order and all items are sold as-is, where-is. Buyers will be responsible for removing the items within 72 hours of the sale.

Bassler noted that some of the items offered for sale are very old and there might be protruding nails or shards of wood. Parents who bring children are urged to use caution.

Bassler said that the doors will open for inspection of the items at 7 a.m. but absolutely no sales will be conducted until 8 a.m.

All payments must be made in cash. Checks will not be accepted.

Questions may be directed to Bassler at 793-2144 but absolutely no items will be sold before 8 a.m. on Oct. 19.

The sale is indoors, so it will be held rain or shine.
