The Rev. Michael S. “Mike” Bequeath, 74, of Martinsburg, formerly of Altoona, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2019, at The Village at Morrisons Cove.

Friends will be received from noon until the 12:30 p.m. Celebration of Life Service on Friday Oct. 4, at The Village at Morrisons Cove. Pastor Linda Banaszak will officiate.

Interment will be at Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown, Md.

He was born on

June 10, 1945, in Hagerstown, Md., son of the late Dennis and Helen (Settles) Bequeath.

On May 11, 1969, he married Linda Kay Blickenstaff.

Surviving are his wife; a brother, Terry C. Bequeath; and two sisters: Judy A. Gaylor and Penny S. Richardson.

He was preceded in death by a brother, James D. Bequeath.

Mike received a master’s degree in Divinity from Wesley Theological Seminary in 1986. He retired as a pastor from the United Methodist Church after serving several charges in West Virginia and Pennsylvania.

He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Altoona and an elder in the United Methodist Church.

Mike volunteered at Epworth Manor, The Village at Morrisons Cove, CONTACT Altoona and the Altoona Hospital.

In remembrance of Rev. Michael S. Bequeath, contributions may be made to the Good Samaritan Fund at The Village at Morrisons Cove, 429 S. Market St. Martinsburg, PA 16662; or John’s Way Medical Equipment Ministry, 218 Rebecca Furnace Road, Martinsburg, PA 16662.

Arrangements are by E. Merrill Smith Funeral Home Inc., 2309 Broad Ave., Altoona.
