Nighttime Trick-or-Treat

After some discussion Martinsburg Borough Council voted unanimously to allow trick-or-treating from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29. Since 1991 official trick-or-treating hours had been scheduled from 3 to 5 p.m. on the Saturday before Oct. 31. Each year, however, there had been complaints from residents who feel that trick-or-treating should be held at night.

The developers of the Food Lion shopping center in Taylor Township hopes to have the first stores ready for an opening during the first quarter of 1995. In addition to Food Lion, tenants will include Thrift Drug and Family Dollar.

Emily Dinsmore, 14, daughter of Frank and Susan Dinsmore of Martinsburg, spent a month of her summer vacation in Japan. She went with the Allegheny Mennonite Program called the Language Laboratory group, which is sponsored in this area through the Mennonite Church in Martinsburg.

The undefeated Williamsburg’s junior high girls’ basketball team (10-0) kept its perfect record intact by sliding past Claysburg-Kimmel, 24-22.
