NB Panthers Rough Up C-K, 35-6

The Northern Bedford Black Panthers ran for 307 yards and forced seven turnovers during its 35-6 victory at Claysburg-Kimmel on Friday, Oct. 11.

Dalton Smith paved the way with 240 rushing yards and three touchdowns, as the Black Panthers improved to 5-3 on the season.

C-K (5-3) dropped its second straight game following a five-game winning streak.

Northern Bedford jumped out to a 21-0 advantage at halftime. Cadin Ebersole intercepted C-K’s Corey Chamberlain pass and returned it 12 yards for the game’s first score. Smith then scored on runs of 96 and 14 yards in the second quarter. Kyler States added the PAT after each touchdown.

C-K got on the board in the third quarter, when Chamberlain tossed a 5-yard touchdown pass to Preston Bush.

Smith and teammate Colby Imler each scored on runs of 3 yards in the fourth quarter. Collin Yeatts added both PATs.

“I was really happy with how we played on Friday night,” Northern Bedford coach Garry Black said. “Defensively, we did a good job of flying to the ball. We forced several turnovers and took advantage of those opportunities.

“Offensively, we had a nice night running the ball. Dalton Smith went off for 240 yards, including the huge 96-yard touchdown run. When you block and run hard, good things will happen and they did.”

The Panthers finished with 11 passing yards.

“We struggled passing the ball and have to work on cleaning that up as the season winds down,” Black said. “[Thad] Leidy made some good throws, but we couldn’t squeeze them.”

Northern Bedford will host West Branch (2-6) Friday, Oct. 18, at Panther Community Stadium.

C-K will travel to Southern Huntingdon (4-4).

Both games will kick off at 7 p.m.
