Martinsburg Firemen Teach Children About Fire Prevention

Jerica Mock, 6, Corbin Smith, 1, and Trenton Long explore the inside of one of Martinsburg Volunteer Fire Company's trucks that was at Long's Outpost Saturday, Oct. 19.

The Martinsburg Volunteer Fire Company, in honor of Fire Prevention Week, set up at Long's Outpost in Martinsburg on Saturday, Oct. 19.

Two fire trucks were on site for children to sit in and explore. Firefighters were on hand to assist the children and to discuss fire safety.

Fire Chief Randy Acker passed out fire hats, coloring books, slap bracelets, stickers and pencils to the children. He also discussed with the children what the firefighters do. He explained it is not all about running into burning buildings.
