Central Grad Opens New Business in M-burg

Emily McCarty, 20, and a 2017 graduate of Central High School, opened a new store in Martinsburg called Wildfire.

The store's grand opening was held Oct. 14. Wildfire is located at 518 S. Market Street.

McCarty explained "customer service is number one and trying to sell items made only in the USA is a priority. Less than 3 percent of all clothing sold in the USA is made in the USA. Also, having an emphasis on reducing plastic waste and reusing what we have is part of my mission."

McCarty tries to buy her inventory from companies that ship plastic-free to avoid excess waste. If she does have to use a company that is not in USA, McCarty checks that the company does not use child labor or are unethical in how it produces its products.

Wildfire has products such as shampoo and conditioner for sale that come in biodegradable packaging. Also lip balms are available that have no trace back packaging.
