Catharine Twp. Wants Response from Ganister Residents

Catharine Township Secretary Eleanor Harclerode said that there will be an update on the Ganister sewerage project for the township supervisors at November’s regular meeting.

The supervisors had asked for comments from residents regarding the Act 537 plan but there were no comments made during the Oct. 24 supervisors’ meeting. It was also announced during the regular meeting Oct. 24 that Sewage Enforcement Officer Luke Helsel was going to visit the six homes in the Ganister area which had not participated in the survey regarding grant funding from the state and other venues. Information is needed from the households for the grant program.

Secretary Harclerode also said that Solicitor Dave Pertile would attend the November meeting because the on-lot maintenance ordinance needs to be completed by the end of 2019.

Resident Dave Ross was present at the meeting to ask for two variances for a garage he plans to build. The garage is to be built close to another property line and close to Recreation Drive. Supervisor Ralph Rispoli made the necessary motions to approve a variance, contingent on approval of Roadmaster Michael Fay after seeing the plot plans. Supervisor Heather Fay seconding and the motions were approved.

Michele Ivory of state Sen. Judy Ward’s office had mailed the township an invitation to attend an informational meeting to discuss upcoming grants and programs available to townships. Roadmaster Fay and Supervisor Heather Flaig said they would be attending.

The supervisors gave Secretary Harclerode permission to send a letter to the Blair County GIS Department (Geographic Information Systems) to opt out of the ordinance regarding 9-1-1 addresses.

Roadmaster Fay purchased a fuel injector for the paver and a trailer for the paver. Supervisors Chairman Ken Brenneman made a motion to approve the purchases with Supervisor Flaig seconding and the motion passed.

Fay asked for “no parking” signs to be put up on Maple Street to snow assist snow plowing.
