The Central Lady Dragon volleyball team split a pair of contests last week, giving them a 5-11 record on the season.
Last Monday, Oct. 21, the Dragons hosted Northern Bedford and defeated them in four sets 25-18, 25-15, 20-25, 25-19. The junior varsity team was also victorious in straight sets 25-8, 25-18.
Lainie Heuston totaled 21 digs and 19 service points. Erin Brumbaugh compiled 11 service points, nine kills and had a pair of blocks. Jenna Carder had 11 service winners, along with five from Maya Hazenstab and four from Abbie Kitt.
Central’s Brooke Claar finished with nine kills and two blocks, while Annie Kitt had six kills and Kiera Berkheimer nine digs.
For Northern Bedford, Abby Zelanko served for 16 points. Madison Johnson added six kills and four blocks.
On Tuesday, Oct. 22, the team welcomed league opponent Penns Valley and fell in straight sets 28-26, 25-19, 25-22. The junior varsity team won 25-18. 25-15.
Lainie Heuston had 21 digs and 10 service points, while Erin Brumbaugh totaled 13 assists, 10 kills and five service points. Jenna Carder (five) and Haylie Mingle (four) combined for nine service winners. Brooke Claar had five kills while teammate Hannah Lingenfelter had four.
We were able to recognize Erin Brumbaugh for a great career accomplishment with 1,019 assists,” Central coach Brad Heuston said. “Also, Lainie Heuston now has 1,065 digs. It’s a great team game, but these two girls have shown consistency over a long period of time.”
