Local Soldier Killed

Corporal George Landis Rodkey, 26, of Piney Creek, was killed in action in France on Oct. 25. Word of his death was received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard W. Rodkey on Wednesday of this week.

Two Cove brothers had a joyful meeting in far-off Honolulu. Seaman first class David Ross Pressel of the Navy, and Machinist Mate first class, Charles Glenn Pressel of the Seabees. The young men are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. Charles T. Pressel.

Martinsburg’s quota of the sixth war loan is $65,000 and an effort will be made to raise the amount promptly. One of the big features of the campaign in Martinsburg will be a bond rally and auction.

Cletus F. Ebersole, aged 23, a master technical sergeant in the Marine corps. was seriously injured somewhere in the South Pacific on Nov.3, according to word received by his parents.

A meeting of the board of trustees of the Spring Hope Cemetery Association of Martinsburg was held Monday evening at the George B. Wineland Coal office.
