Claysburg’s sixth annual “Christmas in the Park” will be held Saturday, Nov. 23.
The Christmas parade, starting at 3 p.m. that Saturday, will begin the festivities. The parade starts at the Claysburg American Legion and proceeds to the Claysburg Area Community Park via Bedford Street. A Christmas parade, giant sized Christmas cards and a Christmas tree lighting have long been a tradition in Claysburg.
Immediately following the parade, activities begin at the community park. There will be crafts for the children and visits with Santa, Mrs. Claus and Buddy the Elf. Holiday music will be in the air along with the scent of delicious treats provided by area organizations and churches, a petting zoo, and games for the children. Make sure to bring your camera for those special holiday photo ops.
As before, the Children’s Choir will lead to the end of the event which is the lighting of the Christmas tree, park decorations and the giant sized Community Christmas Cards.
Claysburg PAST, CK Cares, Claysburg-Kimmel Alumni, Greenfield Township Government, and Claysburg Volunteer Fire Company are essential in organizing the event. The generous contributions from community sponsors and area businesses make Christmas in the Park a reality.
The decorating and setting up of the giant sized Christmas cards will be done on Saturday, November 16, 2019. The committee welcomes all workers on that day.
As always, Claysburg area churches, community organizations, and citizens are the backbone of our event. Many are involved with food booths, kid crafts, and activities for the kids. All involved volunteer their time and efforts to make a great afternoon for children of all ages.
