MARGARET M. CARBAUGH

Margaret M. Carbaugh, 91, of Hopewell, passed away Thursday, Nov. 14, 2019, at The Village at Morrisons Cove, Martinsburg.

A funeral was held Monday, Nov. 18, at the Raven Run Church of the Brethren, Saxton. Pastor Alfred Chamberlain and Pastor Allen Baker officiated.

Burial was held privately at Yellow Creek Cemetery.

Margaret was born July 23, 1928, in Saxton, the daughter of the late Lester P. and Ruth G. (Wyles) Manspeaker.

She was united in marriage on Jan. 3, 1947, to Robert W. Carbaugh. They celebrated 57 years of marriage prior to his passing in December 2004.

Margaret is survived by daughters Chris, married to Bob Over, of Martinsburg; Cathy, married to Sam Detwiler, of Hopewell; and Deb, married to Steve Stepisianos, of Hopewell; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and brothers Harvey Reed and Tom Donaldson.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amy Jo Over, and siblings Donna Ritchey and Joe Manspeaker.

Margaret was a graduate of Saxton-Liberty High School, Class of 1946.

Over the years Peg worked for Dr. Hitchens in Saxton and as an aid for Saxton-Liberty School. Mrs. Carbaugh owned and operated Happy Hollow Restaurant and she and her husband owned and operated Bob Carbaugh Petroleum and Real Estate.

She was a member of Raven Run Church of the Brethren, Saxton, and Saxton Chapter No. 161 Order of the Easter Star.

She loved to cook and take care of her family.
