Children’s Home Plan

The Blair County Children’s Home at Williamsburg may be continued in operation – if plans can be worked out to make it a regional rather than a Blair County facility. For several years the operation of the home has been threatened by high costs and by the fact that the state Welfare Department favors the use of foster homes for children.

It has been brought out in discussions before county commissioners that it costs $3,300 a year to keep one child in the Williamsburg institution, while the same child could be kept in a foster home at an annual cost of $960. This differ...
