Case Against Claysburg Woman Charged With Embezzling Headed to Court Dec. 20

The case against a Claysburg woman facing felony charges of theft and receiving stolen property after police said she embezzled $131,000 from the doctor’s office where she worked as billing supervisor, will go to Blair County Court in December.

Formal arraignment for Danielle M. Bushore, 43, will be held Friday, Dec. 20, at the Blair County Courthouse in Hollidaysburg. This follows Bushore’s preliminary hearing Nov. 12 by Magisterial District Judge Steven Jackson’s office in Altoona.

Bushore was originally arraigned in May by Jackson after an investigation by Pa. State Police, Hollidaysburg, into money missing at Advanced Regional Center for Ankle and Foot Care in Altoona, where she worked as a billing supervisor.

According to charges filed by police, Bushore, who worked at the doctor’s office from 2012 to May 2017, was in charge of depositing cash into the businesses account.

In February 2018, police were notified by Advanced Regional’s majority owner about the possible theft of money.

Police were shown spreadsheets of deposits allegedly made by Bushore showing that the amount of money listed on the deposit slips didn’t match the amount tracked by the office’s computer records.

According to police, there were many days, beginning in May 2014, and ending in May 2017, when Bushore quit working at the practice, where deposit slips did not match what was taken in that day.

The spreadsheet viewed by police showed there was a total of approximately $131,000 that was not deposited into the business bank account.

Police noted that the first discrepancy occurred in February 2014, one on Feb. 25 in the amount of $200 and another on Feb. 26 in the amount of $1,700.

Another discrepancy was found on May 30, 2014, in the amount of $2,525.56. Police said the discrepancies then became regular throughout the years.

Police noted that during this time, Bushore spent “substantial” amounts of money on recreational activities which included “coin in” totals at Rockey Gap Casino in Flintstone, Maryland, in the amount of $119,641.21.

Police said they interviewed Bushore “at length” and that the information she provided them was eventually debunked after further investigation.

Bushore also allegedly minimized her casino spending when questioned by police.
