Galactic Ice Plans Third Annual Winterfest Dec. 14

More than a dozen solo and ensemble ice skating numbers, a Learn to Skate with a free 20-minutes lesson, plus a special Public Skate and a visit by Santa Claus will highlight the third annual Winterfest at Galactic Ice Rink on Saturday, Dec. 14.

The “Winter Iceskapes” ice skating recital will feature solo and ensemble ice skating numbers choreographed to traditional favorites, forgotten beauties, and soon-to-become classic songs and melodies. Festively costumed members of the non-profit Lakemont Figure Skating Club and the Theatre on Ice students will perform to diverse music representing many styles and genres.

The “Winter Iceskapes” skating recital will begin at 3 p.m. at the rink. There will be a charge for admission.

Following the recital, Galactic Ice will offer free, 20-minute lessons during a Learn to Skate session. To anyone who has wondered about ice skating, this session offers a hands-on opportunity to try ice skating.

Later that same evening, the public skate with a visit from Santa Claus will offer a special admission charge. Public Skate runs from 8:30 to 10 p.m.

During each activity, games, a 50/50 fundraising raffle, and other activities will add to the entertainment.

For more information about the event, contact John Kauffman, director of Skating at Galactic Ice, at (814) 309-2669.
