The Greenfield Township Board of Supervisors adopted its 2020 budget at a meeting on Dec. 3. The $834,505 budget is approximately $5,000 more than the one prepared for 2019, Arlene Kuntz, township secretary/treasurer, said.
The addition of a third full-time highway maintenance position is new to the 2020 budget. Jordan Oldham, vice chair, stated that the township has had a difficult time retaining part-time help. By creating the full-time position, the township hopes to reduce turnover and the time invested into training new employees. Supervisors plan to consider part-time, in-house candidates for the position.
The board reviewed designs for improvements at the Claysburg Area Community Park, including the creation of Americans with Disabilities Act compliant parking stalls and pathways. Other changes will include upgrades to playground equipment and improved drainage. The township planned to start advertising the project on Dec. 6, with construction bids to be opened in January and work projected to begin in spring.
Sixteen recently purchased picnic tables for the park were assembled by the highway department, Matt Treon, chair, reported. Nine have been installed to date.
A reorganizational meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6. The regular monthly meeting will follow.
