Randy Wiand Named NBC Board President

The school board of Northern Bedford held an election of officers during its regularly scheduled, monthly board meeting on Tuesday, Dec 3.

This election was made necessary by recent election results in which David Chisholm was replaced by Chris Cronrath. Chisholm has served on the board of Northern Bedford schools for eight years. Cronrath had previously served on the board for nine years as well. During these officer elections Randy Wiand was voted in as president of the school board by a 6-3 vote. Chris Cronrath was elected vice president with a majority vote of 7-2.

Dates were set for upcoming monthly meetings for 2020. School board meetings will continue to be held on the second Tuesday of each month from January through November of next year, with the exception of June’s meeting, which will be held June 16, And as in years past, there will be no meeting during the month of July in 2020.

An announcement was made regarding a special voting board meeting, which is to be held today, Thursday, Dec. 12, for the purpose of selecting an architect for a window replacement project to be completed at the middle school/high school building.

Board member Ralph Scott was appointed as the legislative chairman for the 2020 new year. This position is a Pennsylvania School Board Association position which will enable Scott to attend PSBA meetings as a representative for Northern Bedford. His job will be to represent Northern Bedfords in regards to various legislative measures.

Board committees were announced for the upcoming year as well and these committees are as follows: on the Negotiation Committee be Steve Cottle, Chad Mickle and John Eshelman; the Transportation Committee will include Mike Miller, John Eshelman and Chris Cronrath; and the Budget Committee will include Chris Cronrath, John Eshelman and Randy Wiand.

The next monthly meeting for the Northern Bedford County School District will be held Tuesday, Jan. 14, in the high school, Room 136.
