Since 2004, MLPT has been providing physical therapy to Bedford, Blair, and Cambria counties. The company is now expanding its service to the Claysburg area. The company specializes in manual therapy, known as "hands-on treatment."

Mile Level Physical Therapy (MLPT) has announced that it will be expanding its service to Claysburg and surrounding areas starting January 2, 2020.

Since 2004, MLPT has been providing physical therapy to Bedford, Blair, and Cambria counties.

The company states that "participating in our prospective communities has been an integral part of the MLPT philosophy. Connecting with each community has and always will be a primary goal."

The company attempts to buy locally.

"From buying supplies from local sources, donating to local charities, to participating in local events and fundraisers, Mile Level PT has provided in abundance to each community it serves," according to a statement prepared by the company to announce the opening of the Claysburg office.

The company's specialization in manual therapy, known as "hands-on treatment," has been the cornerstone of its success, according to the statement.

The company's therapists believe that the use of manual therapy coupled with exercise has been found to be the most effective type of treatment for positive injury outcomes, and it fosters a better rapport with each patient.

Each physical therapist is Florida-trained from the St. Augustine University for the Health Sciences. All have achieved, or are working towards, the Orthopedic Manual Therapy Certification (MTC) which is respected in the field of physical therapy, according to the company.

Lead therapist

Dr. Joseph Scanlan of Hollidaysburg will be the lead physical therapist.

Dr. Scanlan has 10 years of clinical experience in treating a variety of orthopedic conditions. He has served as clinical director of the MLPT facility in Roaring Spring since 2012.

MLPT will be operating out of the former Bella Care Physical Therapy and Fitness building on Dunnings Highway.

Raymond Berardinelli, PT, the current owner and operator is moving laterally as a software developer to help physical therapists with efficiency in medical documentation and is attempting to revolutionize the physical therapy documentation and billing process.

When asked why he chose Mile Level PT as its successor, he said, "I couldn't think of a better provider to look after my patients and friends that I have become close to over the last 15 years. Mile Level is a well-trusted organization, locally-owned, and still operates at a small business level."

The company is accepting appointments for January now at (814) 239-9200.

A referral is not necessary. Most insurances are accepted, including, Highmark, UPMC, AETNA, Medicare, Tricare, workers compensation and auto.
