CHS Boys Improve Mark to 3-1

The Central Dragon boys’ basketball team recently split a pair of Mountain League games on the road, giving them a 5-1 record overall and 3-1 in the league.

On Dec. 18, the team traveled to Bellefonte and returned with a solid 55-47 victory. The Dragons led 11-5 after one quarter and 26-15 at halftime.

After the break, the Red Raiders (1-3) outscored the Dragons 32-29 but couldn’t overcome their deficit.

Devon Boyles scored a team-high 18 points followed by Braden Kitt’s 16. Lleyton Kling added nine points and Jacob Eberlin chipped in seven.

The junior varsity team won 38-25 with Eli Lingenfelter scoring 12.

On Dec. 20, the Dragons visited Huntingdon and came up just short, 53-46. Central led by a point after the opening quarter (11-10) and at halftime (28-27).

The third quarter turned the tide as the Bearcats (3-1) had a 14-8 advantage and starter Hunter Klotz was lost to an injury. After the Dragons tied the game midway through the final quarter, Huntingdon was able to take control for the win.

Braden Kitt scored 17 points to lead the Dragon offense, but no other Dragon reached double digits. Tyrell Rolle finished with eight points, Lleyton Kling seven and Klotz six. Both teams connected on five 3-point baskets.

We had a nice win at Bellefonte,” Central coach Paul Frederick said. “Our defense was excellent for three quarters. Devon had a great game but we missed him on Friday (sickness). Huntingdon lost a lot from last years’ special team but they still are tough to beat at their place.”
