Steward Bridenbaugh furnished the 121 inmates of the almshouse with a fine Christmas dinner. Fifteen turkeys were prepared for them. After the dinner a religious service was held in the chapel. At the close of the service each and every inmate was presented with a handkerchief and oranges.

Roaring Spring columnist “Jasper” complained about the strong smell of tobacco smoke in the post office.

A front-page editorial decried the deplorable condition of the boardwalk along North Market Street leading to Fairview Cemetery.

H.H. Rasher and Irvin Bridenbaugh were erecting a lime pit for hardware merchant L.A. Wilkin on his Piney Creek farm.

James Ake of the Mines had his feet frosted so severly that three toes on one foot had to be amputated.

Prosperity was reported in Everett with every industry in town in full operation, including two tanneries and planing mills, a foundry, glass works and an iron furnace.
