W-Burg Hires New Chief

Williamsburg Borough lost a new police chief even before he took office, but council at a special meeting elected another who will take office Jan. 12. Jack Fortney of Mount Union who had been elected by council in November to take office Jan. 1 announced that he was not accepting the job. Council elected John C. Confer of Alexandria RD, who had applied for the post at the time of the election of the last holder of the office, Chief Boyles, early in 1969. Mr. Confer has had six years of police experience.
