Ambulance Service Closing Raises Questions for Fire Company

One of the Williamsburg Fire Company's trucks that will be used for the Quick Response Service (QRS), scheduled to be starting soon. The QRS launch will be assisted by the Hollidaysburg American Legion Ambulance Service (HALAS). Hollidaysburg Ambulance Executive Director Jessica Sorge said that HALAS will help "with restocking equipment and will help with startup."

"We are here to protect each member of the community's family, now we need the community to step up and help as well," Williamsburg Volunteer Fire member Marcus Hughes said about the situation that the Williamsburg Volunteer Fire Company is in.

At last month's Williamsburg Borough meeting, it was announced that at the end of December, the Williamsburg Ambulance would be no longer in service. In a letter to the community, Hollidaysburg American Legion Ambulance Service (HALAS) Chairman Robert Craig wrote that one of the reasons for the closing of the ambulance service was the "lack of up and...
