How Did We Get Here?

Impeachment update: For those who may not be able to stomach the constant, three-years-long-now obsession to undo the 2016 election ... here's the latest:

On Dec. 18, the Democrat-controlled U.S. House rushed to impeach President Trump for abuse of power and for contempt of Congress before they went on their Christmas break. They claimed it had to be done as soon as possible because Trump represents a clear and present danger to our country and must be removed as soon as possible.

The contempt of Congress stretch is for invoking executive privilege and refusing to allow executive staff to submit to the co-equal legislative branch, something virtually every president in my lifetime has done.

The trumped-up (pun intended) abuse of power charge was because Trump dared to ask the Ukrainian president to look into possible corruption involving Joe Biden's son, which, they say, was an attempt to dig up dirt on a possible 2020 opponent.

Biden's son somehow managed to land a $50,000-plus-per-month gravy seat on the board of a Ukrainian energy company with absolutely no experience in Ukrainian affairs and zero experience in the energy industry, all while his daddy was vice president of the U.S. What's to look into? Nothing to see here, right?

The pathetic irony of it all is that the Democrats who are hounding Trump relentlessly are the same ones who paid a former Brit spy to get actual Russian agents to provide him with fake dirt on Trump which he then supplied to the Clinton campaign who gave it to a corrupt FBI hierarchy that used the fake info to lie to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court to get warrants to spy on the Trump 2016 campaign.

And they make Trump out to be the corrupt one? It helps that the majority of the news media are little more than extensions of the DNC public relations office.

Oh, and the dire threat to America that necessitated that the House rush the impeachment to save the country? Turns out it apparently wasn't so dire after all. As of this writing, Comrade Speaker Nancy Pelosi is still refusing to send the Articles of Impeachment to the U.S. Senate so that the process can continue.

Headlines from 2020

But enough about impeachment. Americans are fed up hearing about it.

I'm going to ask you to imagine with me that the geniuses at MIT have invented a time machine, a safe way for us to pop back and forth from past and future.

Let's imagine then that we gather up a few news headlines from the past week or so before we take a time trip.

Let's see here, what did we gather up?

From WZZM in Grand Rapids, Michigan: Man defends child porn collection, claims to be an 8-year-old girl

From TheBlaze.com: VICE pushes to 'destigmatize' pedophilia: 'It would be very, very inhuman to judge such a person'

From Advocate.com: Wilson Gavin, Gay Protester at Drag Queen Story Hour, Dies by Suicide

From cbsnews.com: Michelle Williams advocates for abortion rights in Golden Globes acceptance speech

So now that we have our headlines gathered, we jump into MIT's time machine and warp back to, say, 1970, a time when Barbara Eden wasn't allowed to show her belly button on TV.

It takes a while, but we finally convince the people in 1970 that we're from the future. Then we show them our headlines.

We start trying to explain that in the future, men will be able to just claim to be women and use the lady's room with our wives, daughters and sisters and the government will mandate that we allow it.

We'll try to somehow tell them that homosexuality has been completely normalized and men can marry men and women can marry women and that steps to normalize pedophilia are already underway using the same methods that gays used to destigmatize homosexuality.

It's going to be a little hard to explain that drag queens – men who like to dress like Vegas show girls – are being invited into public libraries to read stories to our children and that even a gay man who dares to oppose the story hours will suffer so much ostracization that he will kill himself.

I hate to think of the looks on their faces when we tell them that an actress stood up at a televised awards show and proudly credited her fame and fortune for killing her unborn child.

They won't believe us.

Even if we could convince the people of 1970, our parents and grandparents, that we time-travelled back from 2020, they would never believe that the America they're living in would devolve into the America that we're describing. Never.

They would think we're lying, or nuts, or both.

And if they did believe us, they would wonder why we let it all happen.
