Lady Bulldogs Run Mark to 9-4

The Claysburg-Kimmel girls’ basketball team outscored visiting Southern Huntingdon by three points in the fourth quarter to escape with a 61-58 victory on Jan. 6.

The Lady Bulldogs had a 17-7 first-quarter lead before Southern Huntingdon closed the first half on a 21-11 run. Each team scored 15 points in the third quarter.

Megan Hartman tied for game-high honors with 28 points to lead C-K. She had four of the team’s six 3-pointers. Rebekah Claar and Bailey Garver added 11 and 10 points, respectively, in the win.

At C-K on Jan. 10, the Lady Bulldogs raced to a 22-3 lead after the first quarter en route to a 61-39 victory over Glendale. C-K outscored Glendale 39-36 over the final three quarters.

Bailey Garver and Kaylee Haney (two 3-pointers) each scored 15 points to lead C-K. Megan Hartman (two 3-pointers) and Rebekah Claar added 12 and 10 points, respectively.

C-K improved to 9-4 overall with a 47-42 win at Southern Fulton on Jan. 11. A 11-5 run in the second quarter propelled the Lady Bulldogs to the victory.

Bailey Garver hit two 3-pointers and finished with 14 points. Megan Hartman and Rebekah Claar added 13 points apiece. Hartman is 52 points away from her 1,000-point plateau.
