Campbell Leads B-A Past C-K

Bellwood-Antis’ Ali Campbell became Blair County’s all-time leading scorer on Jan. 14, as she led the Lady Blue Devils to a 76-44 victory at Claysburg-Kimmel.

Campbell poured in a game-high 35 points, including two 3-pointers, as she finished the game with 2,551 points for her career, surpassing former teammate Karson Swogger. Swogger scored 2,520 points from 2013 to 2017.

B-A led 15-9 after the first quarter and 37-20 at halftime. C-K was outscored 39-24 in the second half.

Emilie Leidig added 17 points, including three 3-pointers, for B-A, while teammate Sakeria Haralson tossed in 14 points.

C-K’s Megan Hartman hit four 3-pointers and finished with 17 points. Bailey Garver and Rebekah Claar added 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Cove-area players who scored 2,000 or more points in their high school basketball careers are C-K’s Lacey Claar (2003-07), 2,187 points, third place; Central’s Ben Bithell (1991-95), 2,106, fifth place; and Williamsburg’s Don Appleman (1958-62), 2,100, sixth place.
