Morrell Justice of the Peace

D.D. Morrell, Republican, was elected justice of the peace by a count of 135 to 109 over S.W. Graybill, Democrat, in North Woodbury Township.

In Martinsburg the only race was for assessor. H.C. Nicodemus defeated H.S. Burket by a narrow margin. Levi Kauffman was elected burgess, Elected to town council were James O. Shubert, John H. Nicodemus, Ben F. Wolfkill, William Davis and L.S. Burket. Elected to school board were J.B. Clapper, L.F. Campbell, George W. Geist and David Hagey.

At the Curryville Literary Society meeting Roy Detwiler gave the best recitation on a proposal that breweries and saloons be made to support the almshouses and insane asylums.

A serious fire was checked at Law’s school house by the prompt and level-headed action of teacher and scholars.

Anthony Beaver moved from Woodbury to Woodcock Valley. Edwin Byers of Woodbury was engaged in printing at Everett.

A number of young friends celebrated the 12th birthday of Mary Crissman.
