Safe Kite Flying

Mr. and Mrs. Reuben S. Kensinger of Fredericksburg have two sons in the fighting forces in Europe. Pfc. Paul O. Kensinger arrived in England the middle of last month and intimated that he would likely be sent to the fighting lines in Germany soon. Sgt. Dean O. Kensinger is a veteran of several campaigns in Europe having been in the service since May of 1942.

State Secretary of Agriculture Miles Horst was the speaker at the Farmers’ Night dinner meeting of the Martinsburg Boosters.

Farmers have already started their spring plowing this week or are getting ready to take up the work.

In an effort to guide the kite flying sport into safe channels, the Pennsylvania Edison company is distributing safety posters on kite flying to the respective schools in its territory.

H.E. Koontz, formerly of Curryville, said the farmers of Buffalo Mills last week began the boiling of maple syrup as the sap of the sugar trees started to run. It requires cold nights and warm days to bring a copious run of sap.
