Rufus M. Replogle, aged 69, well known painter of New Enterprise met instant death Saturday afternoon at 3:15 o’clock when he fell a distance of more than thirty feet as the swinging platform on which he was standing gave way.

Mr. and Mrs. Harry E. Burket of Martinsburg, have a daughter and a son, their only children, serving in the Southwest Pacific area.

Lieutenant Marjorie G. Burket, in civil life a registered nurse, is serving at a large base hospital in New Guinea. Staff Sergeant Harry E. Burket, Jr., a member of a crew of a B-29 bomber, when last heard from was based in India.

A family dinner which had double significance was held at the home of Mrs. Minnie W. Kensinger of West Martinsburg. It was in the nature of a farewell to her son, Lieutenant Leon E. Kensinger of the Navy and his wife, and also a birthday gathering for her daughter, Mary, wife of E.R. Sottile of Martinsburg.

Sergeant Walter E. Butler has been awarded the Bronze Star with the Oak Leaf cluster for heroic achievement in battle.
