James C. O’Harrow, superintendent of the Claysburg-Kimmel School District since 1983, submitted his letter of resignation at the March 10 school board meeting.

Mrs. Linda K. Smith was unanimously appointed superintendent at the Williamsburg School Board meeting.

The Lady Bulldogs, under the direction of 10th-year head coach Mike Barbarini, return seven letterwinners, including six starters, from last year’s squad that produced a record of 23-4 (15-1 Inter-County Conference North Division).

Williamsburg Mayor Theodore Hyle reported tasers and a camera have been purchased for the police department and are now in service. He said that the computer software for the building and police vehicle has been purchased. A 12-gauge shotgun was purchased, as approved, for under $300. Council approved five policemen membership for the Martinsburg Sportsman’s Club.
