Cove shoe manufacturing plant shuts down due to Gov. Wolf's orders

HH Brown Work & Outdoor Group in Martinsburg has been forced to shut down its operation as a result of Gov. Tom Wolf's order that all "non-life-sustaining" businesses in Pennsylvania close their physical locations by 8 p.m. Thursday, March 19.

The company has not determined how long it will be shut down and will be monitoring Gov. Wolf for updates to his order.

Gov. Wolf ordered more than 150 types of businesses to close their physical locations, including "Leather & Allied Product Manufacturing." The company falls under footwear manufacturing in the industry group.

Enforcement actions against businesses that do not close physical locations will begin at 12:01 a.m. Saturday, March 21.

The Martinsburg manufacturing plant has been in business for more than 60 years, starting as Martinsburg Shoe Co., then renamed Cove Shoe Co. prior to its new name in 2007.
