Robert E. Hoover

Robert E. Hoover, 95, of Woodbury, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2020, at UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Services will be held privately due to the recent COVID-19 recommendations and restrictions.

Interment will be in Dry Hill Cemetery, Woodbury.

Bob was born on Oct. 6, 1924, in rural Saxton, son of the late Carl and Mary (Miller) Hoover.

He was united in marriage to Annie Patterson on June 16, 1946, at the Coalmont Methodist Church. She preceded him in death on Oct. 29, 2011.

Surviving are son James Hoover of Altoona and sister Wilda Hershberger of Woodbury.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Hoover.

Bob was a Saxton Liberty High School Class of 1942 graduate.

He worked for Barkman Oil Co. in Woodbury and retired after 41 years of service.

Bob was baptized in June 1937 at the Raven Run Church of the Brethren. He was a member of the Woodbury Church of the Brethren.

After retirement, Bob began helping with disaster relief programs through the Church of the Brethren. His first was a trip to South Carolina in 1990 with Carson Valley. After this, he served in places such as Florida, Louisiana, Missouri, and spent four weeks on St. John Island.

Bob enjoyed hunting and bowling, and was a member of the Cove Lions Club.

If so desired, memorial contributions in Robert's name can be made to Camp Blue Diamond or Middle PA District Disaster Response.
