Closure of Bedford County Courts and Offices Announced Through April 30

In conjunction with the decision by the Supreme Court to close courtrooms to the public, all Bedford County Courts, County Offices, and Magisterial District Judge Offices will continue to be closed to the public effective through at least April 30, 2020.

The Court is available for the following essential functions only:

• Revocation hearings

• Bench warrant hearings pursuant to Pennsylvania Rule of Criminal Procedure 150

• Juvenile delinquency detention hearings

• Juvenile emergency shelter and detention hearings

• Temporary protection from abuse hearings

• Emergency petitions for child custody

• Emergency petitions for guardianship

All other proceedings scheduled between March 20 through at least April 30th are cancelled.

For emergency custody filings, call the Prothonotary Office at 623-4833 for further instructions.

For Protection from Abuse filings, call Your Safe Haven at 623-7664 for further instructions.

For questions regarding other scheduled court proceedings contact Court Administration at 623-4812.

For any questions regarding county offices, contact the Commissioners Office at 623-4807.

Standard filings will continue to be accepted via email or regular mail. For the Prothonotary/ Clerk of Courts, email pcoc@bedfordcountypa.org. For the Register and Recorder’s Office, email randr@bedfordcountypa.org.

No payments will be accepted at the Domestic Relations Office. Alternative payment information can be found on the County website under the Domestic Relations tab.

Magisterial District Judge Offices are closed to the public. No payments or civil filings will be accepted. For further information call the Magisterial District Judge Offices.

All cases scheduled for Central Court will be continued, with the exception of hearings for incarcerated defendants, which will be done via videoconferencing and closed to the public.

All currently scheduled PFA hearings will be heard telephonically.

People with emergency matters will be given specific instructions on where and when to report to the Courthouse. Do not report to the Courthouse without a confirmed appointment. All persons entering the Courthouse will be subject to screening.

All offices will still be available to assist the public during regular business hours via telephone, email, and US Mail.
