Cove Municipalities Close Offices Due to Coronavirus Restrictions

Area municipalities are closing their doors due to the coronavirus.

The Herald was able to collect information from the following municipalities:

Martinsburg

In response to Gov. Tom Wolf’s order of a statewide shutdown as the number of coronavirus cases in Pennsylvania continues to grow, the Martinsburg Municipal Building is restricting visitors.

Individuals who must come to the office are required to ring the door bell before entering as the doors will be locked. Personnel will be on site as usual and will be available to answer phone calls.

Payments of water and sewer bills and taxes should be mailed or dropped off through the outside drop box next to the municipal office door for at least the next two weeks or until further notice.

“As always you can contact the borough office [793-3213] if you have any questions or concerns and we will do our best to answer them,” Richard Brantner Jr. borough manager, said.

Brantner said the police department will operate as normal. If you must stop at the office, ring the doorbell. You can also contact us by telephone at (814) 793-2838 or through the dispatch center at (814) 940-5950. If it is an emergency, call 911.

M. Jane Staily, the borough’s tax collector, there will be no walk-in tax payments for the next two weeks or until further notice in response to Gov. Wolf’s state-wide shut down for all non-essential business as the number of coronavirus cases in Pennsylvania continues to grow.

Payments may be mailed or placed in the drop box located beside the borough’s office door.

Roaring Spring

Until further notice. the Roaring Spring Police Department is temporarily changing its procedures on how non-emergency calls and walk-in complaints are handled.

“We are limiting access to the municipal building, although emergency calls are our top priority and will still be handled as such,” Chief of Police Gregory P. Wyandt Jr. said.

Chief Wyandt said the police department encourages the public to stay at their residences if possible. Non-emergency complaints that can be handled over the phone will be, if appropriate, the chief said.

“We are committed to keeping our officers and other municipal staff safe by doing this,” Chief Wyandt said.

The Roaring Spring Borough office and Roaring Spring Municipal Authority is temporarily closed to the public. Office members can be reached at 224-4814 or by email at rsboro@roaringspring.net.

Water and sewer payments may be placed in the gray secure mailbox on the side of the building or online at https://roaringspring.epayub.com.

Greenfield Township

To help its community be safe and slow the spread of the coronavirus, the board of supervisors have closed the Greenfield Township administrative office to the public. Township administrative staff is available by phone (239-5313, option 1), fax (239-5880) and email (akuntz@greenfieldtownshippa.gov or afether@greenfieldtownshippa.gov).

Taylor Township

As per Gov. Wolf’s proclamation. the Taylor Township building will be closed to the public until further notice.
