Mitchell to Speak at Dinner

The Rev. Glenn H. Mitchell of Boalsburg was named the speaker of the 12th annual Celebration Dinner of Morrisons Cove Memorial Park. scheduled for Saturday, April 22. The Rev. Mitchell, who grew up in Martinsburg, was pastor of the University Baptist and Brethren Church of State College.

Northern Bedford senior hurler Chris Baker fanned 10 batters in the Panthers’ 16-7 win over Chestnut Ridge. Baker also had three hits, including two doubles.

The Rev. Byron Shafer-Stroud, pastor of the Williamsburg and Cove Forge United Methodist churches, informed his parishioners that he would be leaving in July to accept a new assignment as pastor of Gethsemane United Methodist Church in Juniata, Altoona. His wife, Elaine, pastor of the Petersburg UM Charge, was set to be reassigned at the same time to the Garden Heights and Lakemont United Methodist churchs in Altoona. She was former pastor of the Mines and Royer Methodist churches and daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. Donald Shafer of Roaring Spring.
