Pa. Primary Election Now Set for June 2

To protect the health and safety of all Pennsylvanians while ensuring access to voting, the Pennsylvania primary election has been rescheduled to Tuesday, June 2. Also, a new mail-in ballot option is available to all Pennsylvania voters, Kathy Boockvar, secretary of the Commonwealth, is reminding all Pennsylvanians.

All Pennsylvania voters now have the option to vote by mail for any reason or for no reason at all. Voters can apply for a mail-in ballot or a traditional absentee ballot online, by mail, or in person, until one week before the election. Voters can also sign up to become a permanent mail-in or absentee ballot voter and automatically receive ballots by mail for the rest of the year.

For the 2020 primary, applications to vote must be received online or by the voter’s county election office by 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 26.

Voters can apply online. Those who provide an email address will receive notifications about the application and ballot status.

Once a voter receives the ballot in the mail, the voter have until 8 p.m. on election day, June 2, to deliver the completed ballot to the voter’s county election office.

Those who are mailing a ballot should do so as early as possible to ensure that it arrives on time.

Voters who have already requested a mail-in or absentee ballot will receive a ballot for the rescheduled primary. There is no need to apply again if the voter’s address remains the same.

If a voter’s address has changed since the application was submitted, the voter should contact his or her county election office to provide the updated address.

Other deadlines

Other important election-related deadlines have also changed.

The new deadline to update a voter registration is Monday, May 18.

Voters should visit http://www.register.votespa.com to update a registration already submitted.
