Heavy equipment was already on site Friday morning, May 7, when officials joined W. Gene Henry in ground-breaking ceremonies for a new Martinsburg municipal building along Woodlawn Avenue. Mr. Henry

is privately funding construction of a one-story colonial brick building expected to open by late fall.

The Claysburg-Kimmel School Board voted a familiar face to the position of superintendent.

Directors named Royce Ann Boyd, former C-K elementary principal and current superintendent at Everett Area School District, to succeed James C. O’Harrow, effective July 1

Danielle Maurer, a sophomore at Washington and Lee University, has been named the recipient of the Hemm Award for Excellence in Chinese.

The Spring Cove School Board is looking for more cuts to the 2010-11 spending plan before it passes a tentative budget May 17.
