James R. Leavelle, retired detective from the Dallas, Texas, police department, was the keynote speaker at the fourth annual Pennsylvania Police Pride Day and Pennsylvania Police Memorial Service held Sunday, May 21, at the Williamsburg Church of God. He was the officer who was handcuffed to Lee Harvey Oswald when he was fatally shot by Jack Ruby in the basement of the city jail. Martinsburg Police Chief Richard A. Brantner was instrumental in organizing the service.
